Economic calendar in SAST

This week's high-impact news, in South African time (SAST, UTC+2), with what each event is and why it moves the market.

How it works

  1. Events come from a public economic calendar and refresh every 30 minutes.
  2. Every time is converted to South African Standard Time (UTC+2). South Africa has no daylight saving, so US events shift by an hour in March and November.
  3. High impact means the release often moves prices sharply. Spreads can widen and stops can slip in the minutes around it.
  4. Tap an event to see what it measures and which markets it usually affects.

Frequently asked questions

What time is NFP in South Africa?

The US jobs report (Non-Farm Payrolls) is released at 8:30 New York time, which is 14:30 SAST during US summer time (March to early November) and 15:30 SAST in the US winter.

What time is the FOMC decision in SAST?

The Fed's rate decision is published at 14:00 New York time: 20:00 SAST in US summer time and 21:00 SAST in winter, followed by the press conference half an hour later.

Should I trade during high-impact news?

That is your decision. Be aware that spreads widen, price can gap through stops, and many prop firms restrict trading a few minutes around high-impact news. Check your firm's rules.

Why is the calendar in SAST?

Most calendars show New York or London time. South Africa stays on UTC+2 all year, so converting by hand is easy to get wrong when the US or UK change their clocks.
